7 Easter Crafts Made Using Thrift Store Finds

This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 21. In addition to coloring Easter eggs and making Easter baskets, these fun craft ideas will show your kids how to use their imagination with recycled items they can find at a thrift store. Plus, they make great teacher gifts or decorations for your home. Let’s get crafting!

1. Garden pots. Look for old pots with a drilled hole for planting. Mason jars or other glass jars are also useable, just be sure to add a base layer of small rocks under the soil. Plant your choice of flowers or succulents and watch them grow all season.
2. Candy jars or bags. Shallow bowls make great candy dishes. Spruce them up with some colorful craft balls. Gift bags are also great for holding Easter candy. Simply cut the top of the bag off so only about 3-4 inches of material are left. Fill with candy and voila!
3. Harvest baskets. The Goodwill kitchen area usually has a great selection of baskets in various sizes. Add your own personal touch with ribbon and Easter grass.
4. Oversized tic tac toe. Find a large flat surface, like a recycled canvas or art print. Paint over it with a solid color. Then, draw the lines to create a tic tac toe board. Use Easter-themed cookie cutters for the game pieces.
5. Flower hats. Check the hat section for girls’ hats. If you find one, spruce it up with a little soap and water. Then, add flowers around the brim for a seasonal touch. You can use real or fake flowers.
6. T-shirt shamrocks. Did you know the Goodwill clothing section is organized by color? Head to the green section to score some green T-shirts. Use this heart stamp dipped in white paint to create the three leaves of a shamrock.
7. Baby bunny outfit. For the littlest ones! Using a plain white onesie, sew on a light pink bib or piece of felt for the bunny’s tummy. Add a cottontail using a pink pom pom and some glue.
