Have you caught the tidying up bug? If so, you’re not alone.
The Today Show recently reported that thrift stores across the country have seen an influx of donations largely due to the Marie Kondo KonMari decluttering method, which spiked in the New Year with the release of her Netflix series.
Many Americans have amassed closets and rooms full of material items that don’t bring them joy. This is the premise for which Marie Kondo bases her tidying up method. You must hold each item in your hand and asses the emotional attachment to that item. Does it bring you joy? If so, you keep it. If not, you donate it.
This movement has led to thousands of organized homes with bags full of items to donate. Are you wondering where to donate your cleanout haul? Goodwill, of course! Here are three reasons why you should donate to Goodwill.
1) Give back to the community
Have you ever dropped off a donation to Goodwill? The donations that you make at your neighborhood Goodwill help provide Arizonans with the tools and resources they need to achieve employment and become self-sustaining, and provide a better quality of life for themselves and their families.
2) Find one-of-a-kind gems
If you’re known for donating items that you no longer need, perhaps you’re also a thrift shopper too. Our stores are known for their sizable selections, unique goods, fun finds, and of course our low prices. You never know what you’ll find at a Goodwill store. Just make sure whatever you find brings you joy. We believe there’s a lot of joy to be found in our stores.
3) Keep it local
Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is deeply rooted in the local community. We want to be accessible to everyone, that’s why we’re located in neighborhoods throughout Arizona. There are 80+ community locations where your no-longer-needed items can be dropped off, which in turn gives new life to clothing and other items that would otherwise be thrown away.
Drop off your KonMari cleanout haul at a Goodwill location near you. For more special offers and coupons, sign up for our email newsletter.
