How do I shop for used sports equipment?
The trick is to know when you can score these amazing finds. Shopping regularly and at multiple locations will increase your chances of finding what you’re looking for. The great thing is that there are likely multiple Goodwill locations near you! We planned it this way.
Each store is vastly different in the donations it receives. When you’re ready to shop at Goodwill, designate a couple of hours to go hunting. Start at one location and scan the whole store. Make sure you look up, down, and all around. It’s a good idea to do a second scan of the store in case you missed something good. If you didn’t find a score, head to another Goodwill, or come back next week.
Do donations correlate with the end of a sports seasons?
We receive sports equipment donations all year long. There is not necessarily an increase in donations at the end of a sports season. This means that you might also find something that’s off-season. There’s no harm in buying basketball equipment during football season. Simply save it for when your kids need it.
What kind of sports equipment should I look for at Goodwill?
If you’re on the hunt for sports equipment, there’s no telling what you might find. You can search for anything from accessories to large equipment. Here are some things to look for:
