Plastics, Reimagined.

April 24, 2024

We’ve forged a ground-breaking partnership with Arizona State University’s School of Sustainability, the City of Phoenix, Wells Fargo, and Hustle PHX to launch a first-of-its-kind plastics microfactory right here in the Grand Canyon state. The brand new, 10,000 square-foot facility is set to revolutionize recycling in Arizona by diverting thousands of pounds of old plastics from the landfill and transforming them into new retail products, giving them a second chance at life.

“Less than 9% of plastics are recycled in the world. Every bit of plastic that’s ever been produced still exists on the planet,” says Alicia Marseille, Senior Director of ASU’s Walton Sustainability Solutions Service. By using existing plastic, Goodwill and ASU are “…keeping the jobs local, keeping the materials local, [and] reducing our greenhouse gas footprint.”

The microfactory celebrated its official launch with a host of community and honored guests, including City of Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego and Phoenix City Councilwoman Yassamin Ansari, on Tuesday, February 6th.
