Celebrating Success

November 7, 2018

Isabel Sandoval felt overworked and underpaid as an inbound employee at a local call center. She found herself regularly stressed, working unmanageable hours and craving a normal work-life balance. Knowing that this was no longer the environment for her, Isabel decided it was time for a change.

Isabel’s desire for a better life brought her to the Yuma Career Center. She had known the manager, Joel, from a previous job and expressed her ambitions to find more meaningful employment. Joel connected Isabel with Phillip, a career advisor and together they worked hard to focus on Isabel’s individual skills and talents.  Through this process, Joel found an employer that he thought would be a perfect fit for Isabel and helped her fax over her resume.

Shortly after this process, Isabel was called for an interview and a few short weeks later was offered a position.

Now, life has drastically changed for Isabel. Thanks to her drive for change and the help of Goodwill Career Advisors, she is building a career, and life, she loves.

Her stress levels are lower, she has a great schedule and she says that she finds much more fulfillment in her new position as a front office administrator. This refreshing new career allows Isabel to practice her talents in managing an office and allows her to be in control of her future. Isabel has even started taking classes in leadership and says her opportunities now feel limitless.

When asked why she chose the Goodwill Career Center to aid in her job search she replied, “They always go above and beyond in assisting people in their communities, based on their talents and skills.” She says she now refers her own friends and family to Goodwill.

Isabel shared that the biggest challenge to change is discipline, “If you’re not disciplined, you stay where you are.”  She is a true inspiration and her determination coupled with Goodwill’s mission was a winning combination!
