Soft Skills 100 – Introduction

Soft skills are communication practices that inform how we interact and navigate social situations. Starting in January, 2020, Goodwill Career Centers will offer Soft Skills 100-level courses to help you land a job that is the best fit for you. Here is an overview of a few topics in the first portion of the class.

Computer Skills Training 103

The final course, computer skills training 103, provides more in-depth instruction on operating Microsoft Excel. This includes learning how to use the program like a calculator and an organizational tool. You will then learn the basics of Windows operating systems, including their purpose and several valuable functions. The last segment of the day is about gaining informational literacy when using a computer and how to most effectively use a search engine when looking for a job.

Computer Skills Training 102

After reviewing and practicing the concepts in the first training course, the next module provides more detailed information on many standard programs. In this session, you will learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel from creating new documents to finalizing spreadsheets. With the changing landscapes of social media and social networking – it’s essential to communicate efficiently and politely. In computer basics 102, you will learn how to practice social media etiquette in a range of situations. Here is a brief overview of those and other topics covered in the second training course.
