What’s the Difference between a Career Navigator and a Career Advisor?

If you have visited one of our career centers recently, you might have noticed that we now offer no-cost computer classes and certifications to the community. In order to support our growing class offerings, we decided to add a new position to our Mission Services team: the career navigator. Our career navigators offer a unique service that includes teaching, career mapping, and one-on-one support for class participants. Our navigators are a complement to our career advisors who offer career coaching, resume support, community resources, and other valuable services.

With these services we are able to create a more holistic approach to employment. Whether you need to create and send out a resume or increase your digital skills, our career advisors and navigators have the training and resources to creatively help anyone find sustainable employment.

When you first enter one of our career centers you will most likely be greeted by one of our career advisors. They will help you get registered on My Career Advisor and get you started on your job search goals. If you would like to increase your digital skillset or add industry-recognized certifications, they will introduce you to our one of our career navigators. Your navigator will ask you some additional questions and will help you figure out your ideal career path. Then, you can move forward with our digital classes and certifications. Once you get certified, our career advisors will help you find your new career.

No matter where you are in your career path, we have the resources and talented team members to help you get there. If you would like to learn more or get scheduled for an information session, you can visit here.
